Kerstboom haalt China Times!

Zelfs de Chinezen zijn gefascineerd door de Grootste Kerstboom ter Wereld. Dit bericht stond in de China Times van 18 december jl.

Rene Zijl reageerde op onzee oproep in de nieuwsbrief van 24 december om de Chinese tekst te vertalen. Een collega van hem was hiertoe bereid. Beide hartelijk bedankt!

The acclaimed World's largest Christmas tree lights up on 11 Dec in IJsselstein.

This acclaimed World's largest Christmas tree actually is a 366.8M high broadcast tower "Gerbrandytoren", decorated with lights on its cables, which looks like a Christmas tree when viewed from distance.

During the light up ceremony a parade of hundreds of children holding battery powered lanterns.

This event started in 1992, the budget required ~50k Euro each year, which was stopped several times due to budget issue or damaged tower cable. Last year the budget issue almost stopped it again but at the last moment pop singer "Gordon" donated 5k Euro to save the project. However, the organizer said, this year they do not have any budget problem.

The "Christmas tree" can be viewed when driving through Utrecht via A2 or A12 route, it is most spectacular at nights.
